Overview

The Agustín Fernández Foundation is a 501(c) (3) organization created by Fernández’s family in order to encourage an understanding and appreciation of Fernández’s artwork. The Foundation promotes exhibitions and scholarship about the artist and seeks to place his pieces in important museums and collections around the world for all to enjoy.  It also maintains a database that catalogues all work produced by Fernández and an archive about the artist and his work. The Foundation reviews requests for copyrights and also gives advice on the history, authenticity, preservation and restoration of works by Fernández. 

The Foundation gives no grants and makes no appraisals. 

The Foundation’s trustees–Clea Fernández, Sebastian Fernández and Richard Nesson, Esq.– wish to dedicate this site to Lia Fernadez. Lia was married to Agustín Fernández for over 46 years. She was his unwavering supporter and constant companion. The couple met in New York at an opening for one of Fernández’s shows and remained together until Lia died in New York a few short weeks prior to her husband’s passing.

Copyright

The Agustín Fernández Foundation holds the copyright to all works of art in all media produced by Fernández during his lifetime. Reproduction, including downloading and/or retransmission of images of Fernández’s artwork(s), is prohibited under international copyright law. 

Users desiring to reproduce or retransmit images of Fernández’s artwork must secure the appropriate permission by contacting the Agustín Fernández Foundation.

Authentication

The Agustín Fernández  Foundation is currently reviewing its policy for issuing certificates of authenticity. Please contact us for inquiries.

Catalogue raisonné

The Agustín Fernández Foundation is gathering information for the publication of the artist’s catalogue raisonné.  Owners of works attributed to Fernández are strongly encouraged to contact the Agustín Fernández Foundation to assure that their works are considered for inclusion in this comprehensive catalogue. 

Archive

The Agustín Fernández Foundation collects and organizes archival materials about the artist and his work. These materials include correspondence, professional papers, records, exhibition related materials, books, press clippings, articles, photographs, videos and audio recordings.

This archive serves as a tool for curators and scholars, who can gain access to it through presentation of their credentials to the Foundation. (For more information, please contact the Foundation.)

Individuals or institutions who own materials that should be part of this archive are strongly encouraged to consider donating a copy to the foundation so that rich and complete information about the artist and his work can be found in a centralized location.
